Dr. Heather Tait

“This is a game-changer for my patients.”

As a surgeon and the Medical Director of The Moncton Hospital’s Breast Clinic, Dr. Heather Tait knows the incredible value that two new 3D Mammography screening machines will have for her patients, her colleagues and the community as a whole.

“This is a game-changer. This technology will increase rates of breast cancer detection.   It is tremendous to see The Friends of The Moncton Hospital raising funds for this campaign. I’m very encouraged to have that kind of support behind excellence in breast cancer care at The Moncton Hospital.”

“With this latest Tomosynthesis technology, two benefits stand out - increased cancer detection which leads to overall improved outcomes. Secondly - lower recall rates for additional mammograms which result in fewer false positive results. “

“When patients come in for their mammogram, they can be confident that we are using the most up-to-date technology to screen for breast cancer.  And we know with breast cancer, early detection is really the key. The sooner we can detect it, the sooner we can treat it and provide improved survival rates for our patients.”

As a medical caregiver who has devoted her life’s work to helping New Brunswickers put up their best fight conquering this disease that affects so many, Dr. Tait looks forward to the day this new equipment arrives.

“Not only is this for my patients, it’s for their families, it’s for their peace of mind. It benefits the whole community because we know that behind every patient that’s coming in for a mammogram, there are loved ones, there are family members, there are friends.”

“This is fantastic news for everyone.” – Dr. Heather Tait, General Surgeon
